anti-inflammatory
You already know that during autumn and winter, our defenses tend to lower, and we are more likely to catch colds, flu, sore throats, and other respiratory illnesses.anti-inflammatory
Therefore, including anti-inflammatory and warm drinks in your daily life will not only make you enjoy their flavor and warmth on cold days but will also help you feel great inside and take care of your health.
So take note, because I’m going to give you 5 drink ideas that you’re going to love.
Hot anti-inflammatory drinks
Why do our immune system go down in autumn and winter? And why can these anti-inflammatory drinks help you?
Well, as I was saying, autumn and winter not only bring with them shorter and colder days, which is something you either love or hate, but they also affect our health to a certain extent because the immune system is more vulnerable . That’s why at this time we are more prone to colds, flu, sore throats…
But why does this happen?
Despite what our grandmothers told us, we don’t catch a cold because we “catch a cold ,” but for other reasons, such as:
Less sunlight, less vitamin D: Less sun exposure during the fall and winter months means we produce less vitamin D, a key nutrient for strengthening our defenses. With lower levels of this vitamin, our immune system can weaken.
The dry, cold air of this time can dry out our respiratory tract, which affects our first line of defense against viruses and bacteria.
We spend more time indoors, which increases contact with other people and facilitates the spread of viruses, which, added to the previous point, makes us susceptible to these diseases.
So, now is the perfect time to start taking care of yourself and giving your body what it needs to strengthen your immune system.anti-inflammatory

Turmeric latte, golden milk: the anti-inflammatory drink par excellence
This hot drink, originally from Ayurvedic medicine, is super popular for its anti-inflammatory properties.
These properties are obtained thanks to curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, which not only reduces inflammation but also has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
So, in addition to being delicious, turmeric latte is a natural anti-inflammatory, improves digestion, and helps maintain a healthy intestinal microbiota, which is essential to strengthen our immune system.
I love to drink it all the time because it makes me feel wonderful, but I also prepare it a lot when I am experiencing an inflammatory process, such as during menstruation.
What ingredients do you need to make a turmeric latte?
- 250 milliliters of sugar-free vegetable drink (preferably coconut or almond)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder.
- 1/2 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon.
- 1 pinch of black pepper (essential to increase the absorption of curcumin and enhance its benefits).
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger.
- And optionally you can also add cardamom and cloves… to give it more flavor.
How is it prepared?
- The first thing you have to do is, in a pot or saucepan, pour the vegetable milk and then add the spices.
- Bring to a boil and lower the heat. Heat the milk for 5 minutes on low heat along with the spices.
- Serve in your favorite mug with a little more foamed milk (this is optional).
- And you’ll have it ready to enjoy!

Caffeine-free chai latte.
Chai lattes are usually made with black tea, but in this case, I’m going to give you my version without tea in case you prefer to opt for a caffeine-free option and still enjoy all the benefits of this drink.
The spices it contains, especially cinnamon and ginger, help reduce inflammation and improve digestion. It also contains cloves and black pepper, which have antimicrobial properties and help fight viruses and bacteria.
On the other hand, cardamom, and also ginger, promote digestion.

- Add the water and let it boil for 5 more minutes. Then remove from the heat and let it sit for 5 more minutes.
- When ready, strain the chai latte and serve it in a mug.
- Add the warm coconut milk, stir and it’s ready to drink.
Matcha latte: start the day with energy.
If you are looking for an alternative to coffee because it doesn’t sit well with you, but you want to get energized, this drink is your solution.
Although matcha tea contains less caffeine than coffee, the energy it provides is longer lasting. It also improves concentration and at the same time helps you relax.
Not only that, matcha tea is also high in antioxidants, which prevent cell damage, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and fight aging. And, although it is not as powerful in this aspect as turmeric or ginger, it also has anti-inflammatory properties.
In turn, the metabolism helps the body eliminate toxins.
Ingredients you need to prepare it:
- 1 gram of ceremonial matcha tea (do not use culinary).
- 60 milliliters of water.
- 190 milliliters of unsweetened coconut milk or your favorite).
- If you prefer to use only water and not add any vegetable milk, you will need to add 190 milliliters of hot water in the step where you would add the coconut milk.
How is it prepared?
- Add the matcha tea to a cup.
- Heat the water without letting it boil (approximately 80º) and pour it into the cup.
- Stir the matcha into the water using a bamboo or electric whisk until dissolved and foamy.
- Add the hot coconut milk (or water).
- And ready to enjoy!
Do pink anti-inflammatory drinks exist? Yes! Try the pink latte!
The pink latte acquires a very special color thanks to the beet, which will be the base of this drink.
Beets, besides being rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, are also an excellent source of vitamin C , which is key for the immune system. In turn, they improve cardiovascular health and oxygenation of the body.
Ingredients you need to prepare it:
- 1 teaspoon of beetroot powder or a small piece of raw beetroot.
- 2 tablespoons of hot water.
- ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- 250 milliliters of unsweetened almond or coconut milk.
How is it prepared?
If you prepare it with beet powder:
- First, put the powder with two tablespoons of hot water in the cup where you are going to serve the drink, mix it with the cinnamon, and stir to form a paste.
- Then heat the vegetable milk and beat it well with an electric frother to obtain foam. Add it to the same cup where you prepared the previous mixture.
In case you are going to make it with raw beets:
- Add all the ingredients at once to the blender and blend everything until you get a homogeneous texture.
Hot ginger lemonade: a simple and very effective option.
Last but not least, I bring you this idea that I learned on a trip to Warsaw and that couldn’t be easier to make, or more delicious.
You only need:
- 240 milliliters of water.
- Juice of ½ lemon.
- 1 piece fresh ginger (about 2-3 centimeters, peeled and sliced or grated).
With these ingredients, to prepare the hot lemonade, you will first have to boil the water in a saucepan or kettle. When the water starts to boil, add the fresh ginger.
If you prefer a milder flavor, use slices; if you want a more intense flavor, grate the ginger.
Then, remove the water from the heat and let the ginger sit in the hot water for a few minutes to release all its properties and flavor. Finally, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir well and serve hot in your favorite mug.
This lemonade is ideal because it combines the benefits of lemon, rich in vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system, and fresh ginger, known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and digestive properties.
I also really like taking it when I have a sore throat because it relieves my symptoms.
Try it! You will be surprised and it is ready in no time.
