How to follow a healthy and balanced diet in summer without stopping enjoying it

Summer is coming.

And despite the heat, you start breaking out in a cold sweat thinking about how difficult it will be to continue with your healthy, balanced diet.

Because of course, summer is synonymous with sun, holidays, beach, free time… and lots of great plans that you definitely don’t want to miss.

Social life increases, routine disappears and we go out much more.

And this means eating out from time to time.

It’s normal.

But it’s important not to completely abandon the habit of eating healthy, because imagine how much it will cost you to start from scratch again in September.

That’s why today I’m bringing you a post in which I’m going to give you some tips so that you can continue with your healthy and balanced diet during the summer, without stopping enjoying it.

I repeat.

Without stopping enjoying it.

Because believe me when I tell you that it is possible to continue taking care of yourself during the holidays, without having to give up having a good time.

Summer is the best time to eat well.

The key is to find a middle ground and I’m going to show you how to do it.

Let’s get started.

👉 Is it possible to follow a healthy and balanced diet in summer without giving up anything?

As I was saying, you just have to find a middle ground.

That’s not the attitude at all. Don’t demand so much from yourself, because you don’t have to do everything perfectly.

And what I mean by this is that it is normal to indulge yourself in summer.

Enjoy meals you make outside the home, get-togethers, and occasional excesses without feeling bad or guilty.

All you have to do is continue with your healthy and balanced diet at home and with the rest of the meals you eat daily.

It is better to have two healthy meals and one less healthy one, than to have them all wrong because you have started to get frustrated for not doing it perfectly.

Don’t you think?

👉 Eating healthy and balanced can also be enjoyed

Following a healthy and balanced diet is not synonymous with punishment at any time of the year.

And I assure you that in summer it is much less so.

I am aware that even if you have more free time, being in the kitchen and preparing elaborate recipes is the last thing you want to do.

Heat and cooking don’t get along very well.

But there are tons of fresh, light, tasty, and delicious recipes that you can prepare very quickly, that are ideal for this time, and that you will enjoy.

Throughout the post, I’m going to give you some recipe ideas that you’re going to love, and that will help you eat delicious and healthy food this summer.

We continue.

👉  5 tips to make it easy for you to follow a healthy and balanced diet this summer

1. Hydrate yourself, but forget about soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.

In summer it is essential to stay well hydrated because the body loses a lot of fluid in the heat.

The ideal is to drink a lot of water.

And say goodbye to soft drinks full of gas and sugar, to beers, to cocktails…

I know this is hard when your social life increases, but you just have to look for healthy and refreshing alternatives.

The latter is a probiotic drink, which improves digestion and reduces inflammation.

There are millions of brands on the market, and they come in a variety of flavors, so you’re sure to find one you love.

2. Cook as simple and fast as possible.

Forget about spending hours and hours in the kitchen making very complicated preparations.

Cook on the grill, in the oven, or steamed.

And make salads your friends, because they are very quick to make, filling and fresh.

You can make complete salads, adding legumes, pasta, chicken, rice, eggs, seeds, and nuts…

You’re going to love them!

This will also help you to have a less heavy digestion, which is what happens if you eat too many meals in the summer when it is hot.

3. Don’t forget to include fish in your healthy and balanced diet.

In summer, fish is a must, both white and blue.

It is one of the star dishes of this season because it contains more water than meat, is less difficult to digest, and has very few calories.

It also contains vitamins A and D, and provides minerals, proteins, and Omega 3 fatty acids, in the case of blue fish.

It is super easy and quick to prepare.

What I dis buyuy anchovies and sardines, and since I know that sometimes it is a mess to cook them, especially because of the smell, my trick is to order them from the fishmongeralreadye and cook them in the oven with garlic, parsley, salt and a splash of extra virgin olive oil.

There are plenty of options for eating fish and preparing it in just a few minutes.

4. Make seasonal vegetables and fruits your best allies.

I know it sounds super typical, but if this is very important at any time of the year, it is even more important in summer.

As I was saying before, in the heat our body hydrates, and fruits and vegetables must be perfect for this.

They are some of the most hydrating, refreshing, and tasty foods.

And that is why we should incorporate them into each of our dishes this summer.

I also recommend that you try to choose them in season because they are cheaper and usually have much more flavor and better properties, having been grown in optimal conditions.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but during this time of year, fruits like watermelon and vegetables like tomatoes, which have a lot of water, are typical.

So if we ally ourselves with these seasonal fruits and vegetables, we are doing the smartest thing, because we are listening to Mother Earth, which gives us what we need at all times.

And an ideal way to enjoy them and satisfy your hunger is with gazpachos.

You can make them from lots of different fruits and vegetables.

I love making it with tomatoes, because I usually wait a long time for them to be of good quality, and since now is the best time of year, I take advantage and use them a lot.

5. Swap sugary desserts for fruit.

Fruits, like vegetables, contain a lot of water.

They also have a sweet taste that makes them ideal for eating as a dessert at any time of the year, but even more so in summer.

And by fruit, I also mean ice cream, because you can eat them as is, or make healthy ice cream with them.

This is great because you will be eating fruit and enjoying delicious ice cream at the same time.

Healthy fruit popsicles are one of the coolest dessert options for summer.

And everyone loves them.

For example, I give a lot to Olivia, who is 9 months old now, and she loves them.

He loves the one I make with mashed organic cherries and coconut yogurt.

You’re going to love them!

If you’re going to be eating out a lot, remember to also follow these tips to eat as healthy as possible.

A whim on a one-off basis is not bad.

But the idea is to avoid constantly eating fried and battered foods, sweet desserts, and alcoholic and sugary drinks.

For example, when you go to the beach bar, you can order some sardines or some fresh fish typical of the area, and accompany it with vegetables, gazpachos, or salads (the one with peppers is great).
